Relationship Therapy
Relationship Counselling
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the modality that I utilise to work with couples. EFT for couples is well researched and the outcomes of the research are indicative of high levels of success.
EFT recognises the couple as the experts in their relationship, with the therapist working collaboratively alongside them. My intention would be to work with you both, to uncover and de-escalate the patterns/cycles you get caught in when you are in distress with each other. These patterns/cycles contain protective/defensive moves, which can lead to disharmony and disconnection in your relationship.
EFT honours our human need to bond with others. By acknowledging the strategies, we use to protect ourselves from the distress of disconnection from our loved one/s. and understanding how these strategies, in turn, can create greater distance between us, is how we start working together towards a more connected relationship.
- Some reasons that couples engage in EFT counselling:
- • Wanting to strengthen and grow your relationship with each other.
- • Wanting to repair an injury to the relationship.
- • Feeling like you are going around in circles.
- • Feeling stuck.
- • At a crossroads in life/relationship.
- I hope this gives you the confidence to take the next step and contact Karen

Couples’ Intensives’
Are you wanting to access relationship counselling but finding it difficult to commit to regular weekly/fortnightly counselling sessions?
A Couples’ Intensive may just be the avenue for you…
What does a couples intensive involve?
Essentially it is attending counselling over a 3-day period (10-12 hours) with the therapist focusing solely on your relationship. This is structured with adequate breaks, and with this style of working there is a degree of flexibility which means we can stay with the flow of the work. In essence it is a more organic way of working.
